Students in Mr. Campmier's class began their small group technology workshop safety presentations Friday. The lesson provided students the chance to practice their presentation and public speaking skills, and receive feedback on what they can do to improve, good skills to hone now given upper grades will require the students present to their classes more frequently.

Rather than learning about lab safety from a book, Mr. Campmier divided Parsons Middle School technology students into small groups and assigned each a category of safety over which they are responsible for creating a slide show to present to the rest of the class to teach them about those aspects of safety they need to know. Presentations are later this week.

Mr. Campmier's Intro to Technology students completed a "15-minute research project" over shop safety and presented their findings to the class. This activity helps students build background knowledge in an unfamiliar subject and lays the groundwork for students to complete a more in-depth safety project next week.

The theme at Parsons Middle School this year is "Challenge Accepted." To kick things off, Mrs. Nolting and Mr. Krull told students that the Viking Time classes that were the most engaged this week would get to participate in a tug-of-war competition Friday. Four classes made the cut, and Mr. Hutley's was the end all winner of the tug-of-war competition. They are excited to see students accept next week's challenge and see who the winners will be.
